JAKARTA - Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatnamengungkap, revealed the reason why Rinaldi Umar was not appointed as the Director of Investigation at the new Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).

Anang said that the position of Director of Investigation (Dirdik) at Jampidsus must be filled by a figure who is experienced and mature in terms of special criminal cases.

Therefore, the Prosecutor's Office filled the position with Saiful Bahri Siregar who has experience in investigating special criminal cases and is a former head of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office.

"It happens that Mr. Saiful Bahri who was appointed was a former Kajati, had been investigated, and Mr. Rinaldi himself was more outside," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 11.

Meanwhile, Rinaldi Umar will be placed in the position of Deputy Chief Prosecutor for South Sumatra.

"Mr. Rinaldi was first made a Wakajati in South Sumatra. Later, it is clear that it still needs maturation. For this Dirdik, it must be mature," he said.

Previously, in the Decree of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia Number 831 of 2026 dated July 22, 2026, Rinaldi Umar was transferred to Dirdik in Jampidsus from his previous position as Banten Wakajati.

He replaced Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi who was transferred to Director III of the Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel).

However, on Tuesday, Saiful Bahri Siregar was officially inaugurated as Dirdik Jampidsus by the Attorney General ST Burhanhddin along with 33 other people consisting of the Chief Prosecutor and officials at the level II in the environment of the Attorney General's Office.
