Transmission Of Monkeypox Through Body Fluid Or Wounds, Health Office Urges Residents To Be Diligent In Washing Their Hands

The Bandung City Health Office (Dinkes) appealed to the public to implement a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) including avoiding people who are similar to monkeypox or monkey pox to reduce the transmission rate of the disease.

"The prevention, again with PHBS. We cannot be close to people with symptoms similar to monkeypox, because the transmission is indeed from lesion and diligently washing hands," said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Bandung City Health Service (Dinkes), Ira Dewi Jani in Bandung, Wednesday, November 1, confiscated by Antara.

He said monkeypox is a disease caused by a virus that can be transmitted between humans. The risk of monkeypox transmission can occur through contact with blood, body fluids, lesions or rashes on the exposed skin.

"So we explain, if there is a fever then there is an enlargement of the lymph nodes and lumps under the neck, back of the ears, armpits like lumps, you have to quickly go to health facilities," he said.

Ira hopes that the community can be well educated by recognizing the signs of people who have been identified as monkeypox to avoid transmission.

"So we have to know how we can recognize signs and symptoms as early as possible, so we know how to prevent them," he said.

He appealed to people who have experienced symptoms in the form of skin lesions that are not typical and preceded by fever to visit the nearest health facility.

Previously, Ira stated that one patient had been confirmed in the case of monkeypox domiciled from Bandung City, which is currently undergoing treatment in the isolation room of Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung, on Tuesday, October 24.

"If the patient's condition is clinically stable, good, but cannot be discharged because there are still further examinations to determine the extent of the severity," he said.
