Elementary School In IKN Area Revitalized For Improvement Of Education Quality

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said a number of elementary schools in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area would be revitalized to improve the quality of educational facilities and infrastructure in the region.

Jokowi said the revitalization of around six elementary schools was to provide access to quality education, so that there was no longer any doubt for the community to move to IKN.

"Not only at SDN 020 Sepaku, but also we are improving, rehabilitating 5 other elementary schools around IKN, so that later our children can all have good quality education, good quality facilities and infrastructure," said Jokowi while attending the groundbreaking for the revitalization of SD Negeri 020 Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 1.

Jokowi admitted that he often heard doubts from the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) and the public to move to IKN. This doubt arose because of concerns about the lack of access and quality of education at IKN.

Many want to move to the capital city of Nusantara, both our ASN and the community. But, always what is asked, 'Sir, if I move, where do my children go to school, where are the elementary schools, what quality is there', now the answer is that there is currently at SD Negeri 020 Sepaku, because it will be rehabilitated soon," he said.

The rehabilitation period for SDN 020 Sepaku, said Jokowi, will take up to 10 months.

"If someone asks me again, 'where will my 2nd grade child move, my 5th grade child moves', the answer is already there, SDN 020 Sepaku and 5th elementary school, which we will improve in quality," said Jokowi. Jokowi explained for the rehabilitation program SDN 020 Sepaku, later made the school facilities and infrastructure complete, namely having classrooms, laboratories, libraries, amphitheaters, canteens, multifunctional fields, green areas, reservoir conservation and other supporting facilities.
