Smuggling Of Methamphetamine Through Baker Machines, 1 Iranian Citizen And 3 Indonesian Citizens Arrested

TANGERANG - Police together with Customs and Excise at Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta) arrested four perpetrators of smuggling and distributing 3,428 grams of methamphetamine. The 4 perpetrators had the initials EB, UM, DR and HK.

"Securing 4 suspects, 1 Iranian foreigner and 3 Indonesian citizens," said Head of KPU Bea and Excise Type C Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta), Gatot Sugeng Wibowo to reporters at Soetta Airport, Wednesday, October 25.

Gatot explained that the disclosure began with the receipt of a 4.8 kilogram bread-making machine from the country of Oman to Soetta Airport, Tangerang City on July 18, 2023, then.

During an in-depth examination of the machine, officers found white powder carried out by laboratory tests. The results were positive for Methamphetamine.

"We studied it, it turned out that there was a stored methamphetamine in the compress or which was still raw material," he said.

On that basis, Soekarno Hatta Airport Customs and Excise together with the police investigated the findings. As a result, information was obtained that the sender of the illicit goods was an Iranian foreigner with the initials EB.

The package first came and the owner on July 19, 2023 came on a Qatar Airline flight to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. The joint team carried out surveillance activities for a moment, EB landed in Bali," he said.

Arriving in Bali, EB went to Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta to stay for two days. Then moved back to a hotel in the Cililitan area, East Jakarta.

"On July 22, 2023, EB took the package and bill payment for the package he sent. After receiving the package, EB was immediately secured," he said.

Not only that, the joint team carried out developments. It turned out that when EB was at the Cililitan Hotel he was contacted by someone with the initials H who was abroad.

EB was asked to meet two Indonesian citizens (WNI) with the initials UMY and DR to receive a package of methamphetamine weighing 3,986 grams.

On the orders of H, EB was asked to purify the illicit goods into methamphetamine crystals which were packaged into 4 packs.

"After becoming a methamphetamine crystal, UMY was asked by H to send a package ready for distribution to Indonesian citizens, HK to the summit area, Bogor," he said.

After receiving this information, the joint team moved and arrested three Indonesian citizens with the initials HK, UMY and DR. From the arrest, 4 packs of methamphetamine and crystal methamphetamine were obtained and methamphetamine weighing 3,428 grams.

"(There was a shrinkage) Because the purification process had a shrinkage. So it was obtained for a net of 3,428 grams," he said

The perpetrators were charged with Law No. 35 on Narcotics with a maximum threat of the death penalty.
