Social Minister Risma Explores Opportunities With US To Train Special Teachers For Handling Down Syndrome

Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini revealed that he is currently exploring opportunities with the United States (US) to train special teachers to handle down syndrome or down syndrome. Handling in inclusion schools can only accommodate people with physical disabilities who can still take lessons in public schools. Risma added that down syndrome disabled students are a challenge in itself because they require special attention. The Minister of Social Affairs is trying to explore opportunities for assistance from the United States International Development Institute (USAID) through US Special Advisor to International Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Sarah Minkara. "Well, this is one of the things that I conveyed to the advisor, Sarah, how I can use USAID, ask for help on how we can be facilitated for teachers for school children down syndrome," said Social Minister Risma. in Makassar, South Sulawesi (Sulsel), Antara, Thursday, October 12. According to him, down syndrome children have unlimited potential. The talent must be developed with the intervention of special teachers who are able to capture these talents.

"I am talking about this teacher, it does not mean that school teachers, but trainers who understand and capture the potential of their children," said Social Minister Risma.
