Not In Accordance With The Designation, KKP Seals 4,050 Kg Of Imported Salem Fish From China

JAKARTA - A total of 4,050 kilograms of salmon fish (pacific magazine) from China in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, were sealed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) because the fish were not in accordance with their designation.

"In response to the public's report on the alleged leakage of imported fish in the local market, the KKP through the Directorate General of PSDKP immediately sealed and installed the fisheries control line as a quick measure to protect fishermen," said the Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) KKP Adin Nurawaluddin in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.

Adin said that the imported fish circulating in the local market damaged the price of local fish in the country, because this fish was sold at a price of Rp. 20,000 to Rp. 22,000 per kg.

The price of imported salmon is cheaper than the price of local kite fish from fishermen who are priced at IDR 25,000 to IDR 30,000 per kg.

He also emphasized that based on the applicable regulations, SALem fish imported products are used to meet the raw materials for the indexing industry, so imported salmon is prohibited from being traded in the local market.

"The fish importation product in the form of salmon is basically intended to meet the raw materials for the indexing industry, whose quota has been pegged or targeted by the Ministry of Trade based on the recommendations of the Directorate General of Strengthening Competitiveness for Marine Products and Fisheries of the KKP," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 30.

Based on provisional information from the warehouse owner, the salmon was purchased from a broker or intermediary in Jakarta, which was obtained from one of the major importer companies in Jakarta.

Meanwhile, in Banjarmasin City there is no indexing industry, so that in the future, the Directorate General of PSDKP will investigate the origin of imported fish and the existence of fish.

If from the results of the deepening, it is found that there are allegations of violations of the import designation, ranging from sales data, distribution data, and import fish sales activities in Banjarmasin, the next steps will be taken in accordance with applicable regulations.
