Prophet's Maulid Holiday, Total Train Passengers Increase By 50 Percent

There was a long-distance surge in train passengers (KA) on the Maulid holiday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW today, Thursday, September 28. According to PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) records, as reported by Antara, the increase in passengers occurred up to 50 percent. KAI noted that as of Thursday at 15.00 WIB, the long-distance train tickets sold were 263,303 tickets, an increase of 50 percent compared to the previous week, namely 175,945 tickets.

To accommodate customers who want to travel by train from Wednesday (27/9) to Sunday (1/10), KAI prepares around 1,120 long-distance train trips or an average of 224 trains per day, said KAI VP Public Relations Joni Martinus.Fellow (KA) customers' favorites for the Maulid holiday period of the Prophet Muhammad until the end of this week, namely Argo Parahyangan Train (Gambir - Bandung pp), KA Airlangga (Pasarsenen - Surabaya Pasarturi pp), KA Serayu (Pasarsenen - Purwokerto pp), KA Sri Tanjung (Lemayan - Ketapang pp), and others. Joni reminded train customers to pay attention to the rules of luggage, namely a maximum volume of 20 kg or a volume of 100 dm3 with a maximum dimension of 70 cm x 48 cm x 30 cm. Bagation that exceeds the weight and/or size up to a height of 40 kg or with a volume of 200 dm3, with a maximum dimension of 70 cm x 48 cm x 60 cm, is allowed to be carried by wearing duties of excess baggage or buying extra seating.

The additional costs of baggage are for the executive class of Rp. 10,000 per kg, business class Rp. 6,000 per kg, and economic class Rp. 2,000 per kg. In addition, Joni also reminded train customers not to carry certain items in the trunk of the train, including flammable goods, firearms, sharp weapons, narcotics, illegal drugs and other additive substances, pungent objects/ items as well as pets. "The high public interest in using rail services on the Prophet's Birthday holiday which is adjacent to the end of this week shows high public confidence in safe and free rail mass transportation from congestion on the highway," said Joni.
