Kaesang Targets PSI To Escape To Senayan

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep revealed the main target that will be achieved while leading the party bearing the rose symbol.

Kaesang admitted that he wanted PSI to pass the parliamentary threshold of 4 percent of the vote acquisition in the 2024 Legislative Election and its legislative candidates managed to become members of the DPR for the 2024-2029 period.

"I am an optimistic person but I don't have to be grandiose. My target, God willing, PSI will pass the 4 percent Parliamentary Threshold, and PSI factions will be in Senayan in 2024," said Kaesang in PSI National Land Coffee (Kopdarnas) at Djakarta Theater, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 25.

After he officially had PSI membership card (KTA), Kaesang admitted that he had many questions about why PSI was the party he chose to join. In fact, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo is considered to have the opportunity to join big parties.

"I actually joined PSI because this party was still small, I was interested in joining PSI because PSI was not yet in the DPR, and I want to fight with all my friends here so that in 2024 PSI will become a big party and in 2024 it will be in the DPR RI," said Kaesang.

Kaesang revealed that his decision to enter politics was inspired by the footsteps of his father, President Joko Widodo. "Frankly, I entered politics, one of the inspirations, my own father," he continued.

Seeing Jokowi's track record departing from the position of Mayor of Solo, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, to the President of the Republic of Indonesia through the PDIP support, Kaesang saw that he also has the potential to do politics like his father.

Kaesang also asked Jokowi for permission when he decided to join the party bearing the rose symbol.

"He is a person who I really love and really respect, I want to follow in his footsteps in politics for good. To my father, I want to convey, my permission to take my path, sir. May Gusti Allah bless this path I choose," said Kaesang.

Kaesang was officially appointed as the General Chair of PSI for the period 2023-2028 replacing Giring Ganesha after several days of entering the party. In addition to the inauguration of Kaesang as General Chair, PSI also appointed Giring Ganesha and Isyana Bagoes Oka as members of the PSI Board of Trustees.

Then, the position of Secretary General (Secretary General) of PSI is now again filled by King Juli Antoni. The King of July previously also served as Secretary General of PSI before becoming Secretary of the PSI Board of Trustees.
