Makoto Asakura's Grandfather Hit 2 Teenage Girls, Confessed To The Police Not Seeing The Light Changing Red

JAKARTA - Police in Tsubetsu, Hokkaido, arrested an 80-year-old elderly woman for hitting two teenage girls. The perpetrator is known as Makoto Asakura. The incident took place on Thursday, September 21 at around 6.20 at the intersection on the National Route 240. Local media, as quoted from Japantoday.com, said the victim was 16 years old. The two victims were passing at the location of the case when the car that Asakura was driving passed a red light and hit them. Police said the two girls suffered head and leg injuries. They were taken to a hospital where doctors said their injuries were not life-threatening.

According to the Asakura perpetrator's statement, he did not see the light turning red.
