Successful Trial, Russia Will Deploy A 'Church Bird' With Ammunition To Attack Against Armor In The Battlefield

JAKARTA - Russian experts continue to develop an FPV drone dubbed Vorobey (Church Bird) weighing 1.3 kilograms, with 500 grams of ammunition that can be used to attack armored vehicles, said Andrey Bratenkov, Chief Executive Director of Spectr.

He said the drone carrying the cumulative payload developed by a Russian research institute had been successfully tested in a special military operations zone.

According to Bratenkov, the drone will be deployed to the battlefield in the near future, ensuring greater efficiency due to its lower mass and higher effectiveness.

"This drone armament weighs about 500 grams and is capable of penetrating up to 200 mm of armored. As a result, in terms of property, the Vorobey drone can be said to be'mini'," he explained as reported by TASS September 14.

The first batch of drones and armaments has been handed over for use in a special (military) operating zone, Bratenkov said. The drone weighs 1.3 kilograms and has a maximum flight range of up to 5 kilometers.

He further said that the advantage of this latest FPV drone is that low production costs are capable of mass production.

"Vorobey turns out to have a pretty strong 'bit', as it can penetrate the armored hardware. The cost of making it is much lower than Lancet, about 150,000 rubles. This drone is small and about nine inches long. You can't drag Lancet to the front line on foot, meanwhile, you can carry about 10 Vorobey drones without special effort and its effectiveness is much larger," said Bratenkov.

It is known, Spectr, headquartered in Novosibirsk, is developing and producing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The company has provided Yozhik (Landak) ground drones that will be used for reconnaissance purposes in special military operations.
