Riau Police Mobile Brigade Departs 200 Security Support Personnel In Rempang Batam

The Riau Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit dispatched 200 personnel to the Pulau Rempang area, Batam City, Riau Islands, to support the security of demonstrations serving under Operation Control (BKO).

The Commander of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade Unit, Kombes Pol. Ronny Lumban Gaol, Thursday said the 200 personnel were trained officers and the existing options. The additional personnel will later assist in securing demonstrations within the jurisdiction of the Riau Islands Police.

"To the 200 personnel of the Riau Police Mobile Brigade Unit who departed for the jurisdiction of the Riau Police, guard the good name of the unit," said Ronny, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 14.

Kombes Ronny requested that Brimob officers who were deployed take care of the community, and carry out security humanely. Loyalty are maintained so as not to make the image of the police bad.

"And carry out tasks with a full sense of responsibility," he said.

The release of personnel was led directly by the Riau Police Irwasda Kombes Pol Hermansyah and was attended by several Main Officials (PJU) of the Riau Police. Among them are Karo Ops Kombes Asero Manggolo, Dansat Brimob Kombes Pol Ronny Lumban Gaol, Head of Propam Kombes Edwin Louis Sengka, Karo Log and PJU Satbrimob Riau Police.

Previously, the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Hadi Tjahjanto emphasized that the residence area as a trigger for chaos on Pulau Rempang, Riau Islands, does not have a Cultivation Right (HGU).

"So, there are no certificates for people who occupy Pulau Rempang because in the past, everything was under the Batam authority," said Hadi.

Hadi explained that the land that will be used as a Rempang Eco City location covering an area of 17 thousand hectares is a forest area and of that amount, 600 hectares are Land Management Rights (HPL) from the Batam Entrepreneurship Agency (BP).

Hadi said that prior to the conflict on the island of Rempang, the government had approached the local community. According to him, almost 50 percent of its citizens accepted the proposals that had been submitted.
