The victim's family objected because the victim's work did not match what was promised because it turned out to be only a household worker. "In June 2023, the West Pasaman Police Criminal Investigation Unit received a police report regarding the matter," he said. The company (PT Indo Cruise Sumatra) previously brought a number of migrant workers without a permit in February 2022. They are students who had just graduated from SMK Sasak Pasaman Barat. There were three victims, namely Ardi Putra Pratama, Rivaldo and Arif Arianto, who were brought by the perpetrators from Kasiak Putih, Koto Tangah, Padang City. The company was used by the suspect to recruit migrant workers abroad.

Agung added that based on sufficient evidence, the police finally conducted a search and arrest of the suspect on June 16, 2023 at his home. The suspect's mode is to offer his prospective victims to work on a cruise ship with a salary of Rp. 40 million per month. In addition, in the process of processing files, the victim was asked for Rp. 70 million. "One person on behalf of Ardi Putra Pratama has left for Brunei Darussalam, while two more people have not left," he said. The suspect is charged with Article 4 in conjunction with Article 10 of the Law on the Eradication of Trafficking in conjunction with Article 86 letter c of Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers with a maximum prison sentence of 10 years and a minimum of three years. "We urge the public and education actors not to be easily tempted by the offer from the company to work abroad. Check the Office of Manpower and the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BP2MI)," said the Chief of Police. "Meanwhile, the Head of the West Pasaman District Attorney Muhammad Yusuf Putra added that his party has received the files and suspects in the TIP case so that investigators immediately complete the prosecution file. "To the public and the education actors to be careful and do not be easily tempted by the promises of the company that are unclear," he said.
