JAKARTA - A teenager who was arrested by residents in the South Utan Kayu area, Matraman District, East Jakarta was finally released by the police. The perpetrator was released because he was still trying to steal and the victim did not make a report.

"We have invited the victim, we have conveyed it. However, the victim made a statement that he did not want to make a report letter," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Matraman Police, AKP Trisno to VOI, Tuesday, September 12.

Meanwhile, from the perpetrator's confession, he wanted to steal shoes in the victim's boarding house. However, when they failed to steal, the perpetrator was immediately caught by the victim and arrested by residents.

"The person concerned (the perpetrator) is doing coaching, we invite his family to know his son's behavior. We return the perpetrator to his family. So it's just an attempt (to steal)," he said.

Before being released, the perpetrator and the victim were subjected to a mediation process first. In addition, the victim did not suffer any losses because he was still trying to steal.

"The person concerned (the victim) made a statement that he did not sue and did not make a report. Because there has been no report and all kinds of experiments are still being made, at the police station we mediate," he said.

The perpetrator was also given advice, recorded and made a statement not to repeat his actions. Then the police also called the perpetrator's parents.

"We call his parents. We will record his son's data, in the future if the criminal element is fulfilled, we can process it," he said.
