The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Was Reminded To Be Transparent Amid Legal Politicization Issues After Checking Cak Imin As A Witness

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has been asked to continue to explain to the public about the investigation of Muhaimin Iskandar alias Cak Imin as a witness in the corruption case in the procurement of the Indonesian labor protection system (TKI). This process is referred to as a form of transparency.

"You can explain starting when there will be reports from the public, when an investigation will be carried out, when an investigation (a ongoing corruption case, ed) will be carried out," said UGM Pukat researcher Zaenur Nurohman to reporters, Monday, September 11.

Zaenur considered that the accusation of legal politicization was natural. This is because this case has been happening for a long time and the name Cak Imin suddenly appeared when he would be announced as a vice presidential candidate accompanying Anies Baswedan.

The alleged procurement of this system ban occurred in 2012. This means that the anti-corruption commission has only investigated this after 11 years of happening.

"So I think if someone asks that, it's a natural thing. It's just a matter of the KPK being transparent," he said.

Apart from being transparent, the anti-corruption commission was also asked not to selectively selective. "This means that every case allegedly committed by anyone must be processed," said Zaenur.

"I think these two things are a way to prevent the public from being suspicious of the KPK. Don't selectively selective, the second is transparent," he continued.

Previously, the KPK had announced that three suspects were named in the case of procuring the TKI protection system. Secretary of the Ministry of Manpower Planning and Development Agency I Nyoman Darmanta is reportedly one of the parties involved.

In investigating this case, several witnesses have been examined. One of them is the former Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin who served for the 2009-2014 period on Thursday, September 7.

As a result of this summons, various speculations occurred, including allegations of legal politicization. In response to this, the KPK emphasized that the investigation was only carried out because of public reports that came in some time ago.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri ensured that they had no intention of targeting any figure who was running in the 2024 presidential election. "It is very inappropriate for law enforcers to suddenly conduct an examination or summon someone without any processes that have been passed before," he told reporters, Monday, September 11.
