JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) reviewed the government's rice reserves (CBP) in the warehouse of the Logistics Affairs Agency (Bulog) in Bogor and Jakarta.

The activities of the head of state this time to check rice supplies for community needs amid the impact of the dry season due to the El Nino phenomenon.

"I came to Bulog warehouses here (Bogor), in Jakarta, maybe later in the regions, to make sure that the stock was there. The most important thing is that the stock is there. The goods are there, the rice is there," said Jokowi at the Bogor Bulog Warehouse in Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, West Java, Monday 11 September, confiscated by Antara.

After the review, Jokowi ensured that the national rice stock in Bulog's warehouse currently reached 1.6 million tons.

However, Jokowi views that the government still needs to import rice to ensure that rice stock reserves are met, in order to minimize the increase in rice prices in the market due to the El Nino phenomenon that has occurred in almost all countries.

"This is to ensure that we have strategic stock reserves. It must be to prevent an increase because production must fall because of El Nino, although I see that there are not many numbers," said President Jokowi.

President Jokowi has spoken with a number of state leaders to import rice into Indonesia. The negotiation process, he continued, was carried out by Bulog to ensure transactions or not.

"I have spoken with Prime Minister Hun Manet, with the President of Bangladesh who has stock, with Prime Minister Modi, with the RRC as well as Premier Li. Our stock is already large, but we are still seeing where it can be. Not for now, but for next year's plan, we are also anticipating it," said President Jokowi.

On this occasion, Jokowi also distributed food aid rice to Beneficiary Families (KPM). The President said that food assistance for the community would be distributed from September to November.

"Every month approximately 210 thousand tons is issued by Bulog for food assistance and this has been started from September, October, November. If we see the stock still, it will be continued again so that people are not affected by the increase in rice prices," said Jokowi.

After reviewing the Bulog warehouse in Bogor, Jokowi and his entourage left for Bulog's warehouse at the East Sunter II Bulog Warehouse in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, DKI Jakarta.

During his visit at around 11.00 WIB, Jokowi took the time to provide food assistance to PKM families in the area and tour the East Sunter II Bulog Warehouse in Kelapa Gading.

This opportunity, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi, President Director of Perum Bulog Budi Waseso, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, and Regent of Bogor Iwan Setiawan.
