PKB Reveals Cak Imin Canceled Opening MTQ International Allegedly Due To Regent Of Tanah Laut Intimidated

JAKARTA - PKB General Chairperson (Ketum) Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin canceled the opening of the International Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ) event in Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) today. It is suspected that there was intimidation behind the cancellation.

This was conveyed by the Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of PKB Jazilul Fawaid in response to the news that Cak Imin's return from South Kalimantan was accelerated because he was forcibly picked up by the KPK.

"The information I received, Gus Imin [Cak Imin] returned according to his return schedule but canceled the opening of the International MTQ at the request of the Regent of Tanah Laut who claimed to be under pressure, threats and intimidation from certain parties so that Gus Imin was refused to give a speech at the event," said Jazilul, Tuesday, September 5.

Jazilul explained that Cak Imin was canceled to open the event even though he was already at the location.

He also asked to confirm the complete chronology to the MTQ International committee.

"Those who know exactly the chairman of JQH KH Saifullah Ma'shum but I haven't managed to contact him yet," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the MPR feels that what Cak Imin is experiencing is odd. He hopes that the investigation behind Cak Imin's refusal to open the event will be revealed by related parties.

"We hope to investigate who was the mastermind behind and what was their motive for intimidating the Regent of Marine Land to reject Gus Imin's presence at the MTQ arena. Really, this is a strange incident," said Jazilul. However, Cak Imin asked to postpone because he had to open the MTQ International event in South Kalimantan as Deputy Speaker of the DPR. Cak Imin sent a letter to the KPK and is ready to attend the red and white building on Thursday, September 7. However, the KPK scheduled the summons to be made next week.
