CIANJUR - Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park Center (TGNPP) has reopened the hiking trail to Mount Gede Pangrango through the Cibodas gate since today. This line was previously closed due to damage carried out by unscrupulous shelter managers. Head of the National Park Climbing Division 1 TNGGP Cianjur Lana Sari said, after repairing the Cibodas climbing entrance which was damaged by an individual, some time ago, the hiking trail was finally able to be passed again. "The climb can be done through the Cibodas door which has been repaired. The climbing registration is still online (online) and cannot be done directly on the spot," he said in Cianjur, West Java, Antara, Tuesday, September 5. He asked climbers to commit to support the improvement of climbing management by complying with the rules that have been mutually agreed upon and preserving nature, safety, security, and order while climbing. While climbing and in the national park environment, climbers are prohibited from making counts and throwing away items that can cause sparks, including cigarette butts because most areas experience drought and are prone to fire. "During the long dry season, it is forbidden to make flames or throw cigarette butts carelessly, starting from the climbing door. Climbers are asked to make sure they don't leave cooking utensils on to avoid fires," he said. To maintain nature along the hiking trail, his party asked climbers to bring down the waste produced when climbing because every year dozens of tons of garbage are lowered from the top of the mountain and along the hiking trail.
"The climber must be smart by complying with all applicable rules, not littering and not making flames during the dry season because it can cause land fires in national parks," he said.
