Pekanbaru City Government Implements Sanctions For Disposal Of GOODs Waste, The Largest Fine Is IDR 5 Million

PekanBARU - Pekanbaru City Government (Pemkot), Riau, imposes administrative sanctions for litterers beyond the specified time schedule.

The head of the Pekanbaru City Satpol PP, Zulfahmi Adrian, said residents could throw it away from 19.00 WIB to 05.00 WIB. Those who dispose of garbage outside the clock will be given a warning sanction until administrative fines according to the amount of cubication of garbage that is thrown away.

"Later it can be a minor crime (tipiring) if the amount of waste that is thrown away is large. But if the waste is still in the medium category or a little, we will impose administrative fines. It depends on the cubication of the garbage that is thrown away," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.

Those who pay the fine will be fined on the spot. Later the money will be deposited into the regional treasury and the Tipiring violators will proceed to court proceedings.

"The largest sanction is Rp. 5 million, it is in accordance with local regulations. So, later there will be minor, medium and severe violations," he said.

He said that prosecutions had begun last week to anticipate the accumulation of garbage in temporary shelters that were legal and wild. Therefore, people are advised to dispose of waste according to the hours of throwing away.

"Disposal hours have been set, we will take action against those who throw garbage outside the clock. We have dispatched 150 personnel (Satpol PP), plus a law enforcement team for the environmental and forestry offices that oversees landfills (TPS)," he said.

Currently, in order to minimize the accumulation of waste, his party together with DLHK have also hoarded several illegal waste polling stations. After being buried, then planting trees in illegal polling stations.

"So residents should no longer throw garbage there. If caught, the team will take action," he said
