Heru Budi Yakin TMII Becomes The Main Destination For Jakarta City Tourism

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono believes Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) will become the main tourist destination in Jakarta after the renovation so that it is now present with a new face.

"We in DKI Jakarta are grateful for the inauguration of the TMII renovation," said Heru in a written statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 3.

He believes that with a new face, TMII will spearhead tourism destinations in Jakarta. "And also of course in Indonesia because TMII is like a miniature of Indonesia," he said.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) continues to synergize with the Central Government in maintaining TMII because it is a new icon of national tourism.

"In this case, when the construction has been completed and has presented a new atmosphere, our job is to take care of it together," he said.

"This is so that our children and grandchildren in the future can continue to enjoy traveling to TMII because this is a national heritage," said Heru.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the new face revitalization project TMII, Friday (1/9) night. The President said that the revitalization of TMII was carried out to restore the initial enthusiasm of the tourist destination initiated by Mrs. Tien Suharto.

This revitalization is to restore TMII such as the initial master plan, which is 70 percent of green open space and 30 percent of buildings.

"In the afternoon, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah should now be cooler, because the concept has been returned as in the initial master plan, which is 70 percent of green open space and 30 percent of buildings," said President Jokowi.

President Joko Widodo also explained that all museum buildings and 33 regional platforms at TMII have been beautified by carrying inclusive, cultural and intelligent concepts.

"People can now visit and enjoy the new face of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah which is neatly arranged, greener, more beautiful and more comfortable," said President Joko Widodo.

The revitalization of TMII has been carried out since January 2022 with a budget of more than IDR 1 trillion. In addition, the state-owned company, PT InJourney, also invested around IDR 200 billion for beautification and other attractions.

The revitalization of TMII is part of accelerating the implementation of infrastructure development to support the implementation of international events.

The new face of TMII applies a green zone so that emissioned vehicles are only allowed until the parking area and visitors can tour with the electricity-based transportation that has been provided.

TMII now has "Contemporary Art Gallery" and "Jagat Animal Nusantara" which includes bird parks, reptile parks and aautic world that have been beautified.

Visitors can also watch a variety of new attractions at TMII, such as "Dancing Fountain Show" with fairy tales on the "water screen" which takes the theme of Indonesian folklore on Archipelago Lake.
