KLHK Deploys 100 Supervisors, The Perpetrators Of The Jakarta Air Pollution

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) emphasized that it is ready to take action against perpetrators of air pollution in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas.

"Our final goal is to ensure that everyone has the right to a good and healthy quality of the environment, including being entitled to clean and healthy air quality," said Director General of Environmental and Forestry Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Ratio Ridho Sani, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 21.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry has formed a task force to supervise and take action against immovable sources of pollution such as steam and diesel power plants, industry, burning open waste, and electronic waste.

As many as 100 supervisory officials and environmental impact controllers were deployed to oversee several points in Jabodetabek, such as in Marunda, Cakung, Kelapa Gading, Bekasi, and the Karawang border.

If during the supervision it is found that violations are found, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry will not hesitate to stop the operations of activities that cause air pollution.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry can also take other legal steps, such as imposing administrative sanctions, civil lawsuits, and enforcing criminal law.

"We take these decisive steps as the government's commitment, in this case the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, which is also a direct instruction from the Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya, to restore air quality," said Rasio.

The Ministry of Environment and Forestry has seven steps to control air pollution in the Jabodetabek area, namely identification of air polluting sources, monitoring of motor vehicle exhaust emissions through emission tests, planting trees.

Furthermore, supervision of compliance with licensing and legislation for immovable sources of emissions; law enforcement; application of weather modifications; and guidance, supervision, coordination, and supervision with local governments.
