West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Welcomes GPIB National Level Anniversary In Padang

The Governor of West Sumatra (West Sumatra), Mahyeldi welcomed the plan to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Protestant Church in West Indonesia (GPIB) at the national level in October 2023 to be held in Padang.

"The West Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov) fully supports the implementation of the commemoration of the GPIB Anniversary at the national level in West Sumatra. We want this activity to run smoothly, and guests who come can be well facilitated," Mahyeldi said in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 21.

When receiving the GPIB group of the Zaca Padang congregation, governor Mahyeldi said the West Sumatra Provincial Government was promoting the spirit of togetherness and nationality carried out in the activity.

He appealed to all elements in West Sumatra to always maintain a conducive situation, so that every big agenda that takes place in West Sumatra can run smoothly, in accordance with shared expectations.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the GPIB Congregation Council, Zaca Padang, Pastor (Pdt) Salmon Leatemia, said that the GPIB congregation really appreciated the support given by Governor Mahyeldi for the planned 75th GPIB Anniversary Commemoration in West Sumatra.

Pastor Salmon conveyed a series of commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the GPIB carrying the theme about social affairs.

"We are very grateful for the extraordinary support from Governor Mahyeldi for this activity. Through this agenda, we want to emphasize that the church is in the community and is always open to supporting government programs for the presence of welfare for the whole community," he said.
