Police Case Allegedly Forcibly Detained Women Oral Sex Handled By South Sulawesi Police Propam

The Security Professional Team (Propam) of the South Sulawesi Police (Sulsel) is investigating a case of alleged sexual harassment by a police officer with the rank of Brigadier with the initials SA against a female prisoner with the initials FM in the South Sulawesi Police Headquarters detention cell.

"We are investigating the case. If it is proven, then Propam is processed internally, and Crime (Ditreskrimum Polda) is for criminal acts," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes I Komang Suartana, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 15.

Regarding the witnesses who saw the incident, he said, investigators would carry out an in-depth investigation, including examining both prisoners and members who were picketed at the time of the incident.

"We will examine witnesses, whether it is those who see, or hear. All of them will definitely be asked for their statements related to the behavior of the members suspected of doing this (sexual harassment)," he stressed.

The member is known to be on duty at the Directorate of Detention and Evidence (Dit Tahti) of the South Sulawesi Police. The incident occurred at the end of July 2023 and was reported to the SPKT regarding the alleged alleged act.

From the victim's statement with the initials FM, he admitted that he was visited by the police who were the perpetrators in detention.

It is suspected that SA was under the influence of alcohol and then hugged the victim from behind and allegedly held the sensitive part of the victim. The victim was shocked and slightly rebelled against it. He was even whispered to be invited to the toilet, but he still refused.

Even the incident that night, the victim was suspected of being asked to have sex but did not want to reasoned that she was menstruating. The suspect also forced his pants and tried to pull the victim's head off to get oral sex.

"I saw one room (the incident) and I reported it under (the picket) sir. I reported earlier this month (August), I signed it (the report letter), he said he would be reported to Provos. On the third day, he came but was wearing a white shirt, he said he was being processed," said FM.

In connection with this case, the victim's family plans to officially report the alleged harassment to the SPKT for the alleged criminal offense process and to the South Sulawesi Police Propam Division for alleged violations of the code of ethics.
