JAKARTA - President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Chancellor Olaf Scholz, along with plans for additional air defense system assistance to deal with Russian attacks.

In his evening address, President Zelensky said Germany and Ukraine had agreed to additional supplies of Patriot air defense missile systems for Kyiv.

"Today there is good news from Germany - exactly what we agreed with (Germany chancellor) Olaf Scholz. There is an additional Patriot system. Thank you very much, Olaf, this is necessary for our people's defense of Russia's terror," President Zelensky said.

"This will definitely bring us closer to creating a complete air shield for Ukraine. This will help people, cities and villages," President Zelensky said.

Yesterday, Germany announced its decision to send two more Patriot launchers to Ukraine.

"fulfilling our agreement will save thousands of the lives of our people. We continue to work to strengthen Ukraine and protect it from Russian terror," President Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

It is known that a ground-based air defense system such as Patriot made by Raytheon, was created to intercept incoming missiles.

However, the number of these systems is limited across the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as many allied countries reduce the number of air defense units after the Cold War.
