JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police deployed 1,100 personnel to secure a labor demonstration at the Tugu Horse Statue, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday.

Apart from that, according to Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Komarudin, his party is also implementing a traffic diversion scheme around Merdeka Barat Street, Central Jakarta.

"Today the diversion is only on Merdeka Barat (street). So traffic flowing north and south is diverted to the Horse Statue and also Harmoni," he said when quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 9

Komarudin explained that there were around three thousand people who came to the demonstration. Because of that he appealed to the public to avoid the area.

"As of today, the TMC (Traffic Management Center) has made an appeal, presumably people can avoid the West Merdeka route because there is activity. You can use the South, East and North Merdeka routes," he said.

Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Province Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD), PT Transportasi Jakarta (TransJakarta) made adjustments to service routes due to the Labor Party action in the Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta and its surroundings.

"We ask customers to be able to arrange travel during this adjustment. Services will operate normally when the route can be crossed again," said the Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department of PT TransJakarta.

These adjustments are made so that people who use TransJakarta on certain routes will continue to run smoothly.
