The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights stated that Bali is the focus on monitoring foreigners today because of the high number of violations compared to other regions.

"Currently, for the field of supervision, we are focusing on Bali because of the high number of violations by foreigners there," said the Coordinator of Supervision of the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Igak Artawan, after attending a meeting of the West Sumatra foreign surveillance team in Padang, reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 8.

He revealed that based on data from January 2023 to date, there are 198 foreigners who have been deported to their country of origin for committing violations in Bali.

"Violations committed vary from immigration rules such as violating residence permits, overstaying, and violating the norms and customary rules that apply in Bali," he explained.

Therefore, he continued, Immigration has made Bali the focus of monitoring foreigners so that such violations can be anticipated and do not happen again.

Igak Artawan said foreigners who violate other rules such as not wearing helmets while driving and others can also be dealt with.

"For example, when a foreigner is driving without a helmet while driving, then the Police recommend to us, it can be deported," he explained.

When asked about the condition of West Sumatra, Igak Artawan said West Sumatra is an area that has the potential for tourism to attract foreigners, but for violations it is not significant.

"So far, from monitoring the supervisory function of foreigners carried out by the West Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Padang and Agam Immigration Offices, the foreign surveillance team (Pora), and related agencies have been going well," he explained.

He said Immigration was open to foreigners who came to Indonesia while providing benefits and according to the rules, such as traveling or becoming investors.
