Looking For Other Evidence, Bareskrim 'Obok-Obok' Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police searched several points at the Al Zaytun Islamic Boarding School (Ponpes), today, Friday, August 4. The search is a follow-up to the stipulation of Panji Gumilang as a suspect in the alleged blasphemy case.

"(Searching) In several locations at the Islamic Boarding School, yes," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro to reporters, Friday, August 4.

The search process is said to have started at around 14.00 WIB. Sub-Directorate 1 of the Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim who carried out the search process.

In addition, a team from Inafis was also involved in the search process. The West Java Regional Police and the Indramayu Police participated in the activity but in the context of security.

So far, no temporary results have been detailed from the search. Djuhandani only conveyed the investigation steps to find evidence in the alleged blasphemy case.

"This is also intended to complete the case file and look for other evidence," he said.

When the search process is complete, the investigative team will collect the evidence obtained in the activity.

Then, analyze it for the development of other alleged criminal acts committed by Panji Gumilang.

"After the search, of course, we will re-analyze the results, we will use them as material for the investigation again, maybe there are other criminal offenses related to what was conveyed yesterday, whether there are anything related to embezzlement fraud and so on," said Djuhandani.

Panji Gumilang was named a suspect in the case of ambassador for blasphemy and was detained at the Bareskrim detention center. One form of blasphemy by calling the Qur'an an essay by the Prophet Muhammad.

In this case, Panji Gumilang is suspected of having multiple articles. First, Article 14 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations which carries a penalty of 10 years in prison.

Then, Article 45A paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 28 paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning ITE with a threat of 6 years in prison.

Finally, Panji Gumilang was also charged with Article 156 A of the Criminal Code. In this article, the penalty is 5 years in prison.
