JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) assessed that the announcement of a candidate for vice president (readwapres) must be made tactically considering that the time until the voting period is February 14, 2024, there are only 7 months left.
Apart from the name that has not been announced, AHY believes that the Change Coalition, which currently consists of NasDem, the Democratic Party, and PKS, will be more solid in the future.
"I am sure that the Coalition in the future will be more solid, and we will be more synergistic, including in determining strategies in the field because the time is only 7 months away. We must be more tactical to visit various regions in Indonesia, to greet various people in Indonesia,” AHY said when met at the NasDem Alert Apple event in SUGBK, Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, July 16.
The Chairman of the Democratic Party believes that the three parties that are members of the Change Coalition are ready to support the name of the vice president who will be elected by their presidential candidate (readpres), Anies Baswedan.
"I am sure, Mr. Presidential Candidate (Anies Baswedan), and these three coalition political parties are also very ready, excited, because we also get positive energy by the community," said Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.
He added that the public was also waiting for the name of the vice president who would accompany Anies Baswedan to run for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).
"The public has welcomed and been waiting for arrivals as well as wanting to unite great energy, because the changes conveyed by Mr. Anies, Mr. Capres, must be together, not become the agenda of individuals, parties per party, but this is a big agenda together and fighting together," said AHY.
On various occasions when asked by reporters, AHY conveyed that three political parties in the Coalition for Change agreed that the vice president would be determined by Anies Baswedan.
Meanwhile, Anies has yet to announce the name to the public.
Registration for presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to take place from 19 October 2023 to 25 November 2023.
