JAKARTA - Sudanese authorities extended the closure of their airspace until July 31 amid clashes between the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group.

In a statement, the Civil Aviation Authority said that Sudan's airspace would still be closed to all flights until July 31.

Reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Tuesday, July 11, the exemption applies to evacuation flights and humanitarian aid, the statement said.

Sudan has been hit by clashes between the military and RSF since April in a conflict that killed nearly 3,000 civilians and injured thousands of others, according to local medical teams.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that nearly three million people have fled the current conflict in Sudan.

Various ceasefires mediated by Saudi Arabia and the United States for the warring parties failed to end violence in the country.
