2023 Hajj Participants From Indonesia Majority Of Housewives Graduated From Elementary School

Chairman of the Saudi Arabia Hajj Organizing Officer (PPIH) 1444 H/2023 M Subhan Cholid explained that the majority or as many as 57,178 Hajj participants from Indonesia work as housewives.

Please note, the number of pilgrims departing from the country to the Holy Land this year is 558 clusters with 209,782 Hajj participants and the majority of them are women with a ratio of 55.1 percent of women, the remaining 44.9 percent of men.

Others as many as 43,253 private employees, 42,368 civil servants, 29,082 farmers, 18,069 traders, 9,389 retirees, 4,214 students / students, 3,137 BUMN employees, and 3,092 with various other professions.

Subhan said that out of a total of 209,782 Indonesian Hajj participants who arrived in the Holy Land this year as much as 99.57 percent, 98.34 percent of whom had not yet served and only 1.66 percent had already carried out the pilgrimage.

He mentioned 133 people died and 74 of them or 5.55 percent were in the elderly category (65 years and over) with details of 96 people dying in Mecca, 34 people in Medina, and three people in Jeddah.

PPIH Saudi Arabia has distributed 7,774,944 catering boxes for pilgrims in Mecca and 2,588,922 catering boxes for Indonesian pilgrims while in Medina (including the second batch of pilgrims who landed and transited in Medina).

"PPIH Saudi Arabia has prepared 213,572 catering boxes distributed at King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Jeddah. So, a total of 10,577,438 catering boxes have been distributed during the arrival phase of Indonesian pilgrims in the Holy Land," he said.

At the peak of the hajj in Arafah'-Muzdalifah-Mina, he added, PPIH in collaboration with Masyariq will provide around 3,417,152 boxes of consumption service catering which will be distributed from 8 to 13 Zulhijah 1444 Hijriah.

PPIH Saudi Arabia has prepared 122 hotels spread across five regions, namely Mahbas Jin, Syisyah, Raudhah, Jarwal, and Misfalah. A total of 52,187 rooms were prepared. The closest distance of the hotel to the mosque to the mosque is 850 m, while the furthest distance is 4,339 m. To escort the congregation from the hotel to the mosque, PPIH Saudi Arabia has prepared a salawat bus.

For Medina, the Saudi Arabian PPIH prepared 107 hotels spread across three Markaziyah areas (around the Prophet's Mosque), namely Syimaliyah (the northern side of the Prophet's Mosque), the Gharbiyah area (the western side of the Prophet's Mosque), and the Janubiyah area (the southern side of the Prophet's Mosque).

The closest distance of the hotel from the main page of the Prophet's Mosque is 15 m, while the furthest is 500 m. A total of 107 hotels will also be used by the second wave of Indonesian pilgrims to Medina after undergoing the pilgrimage.

The Saudi Arabian government has set 1 Zulhijah 1444 H to coincide with June 19, 2023 and wuhuf in Arafah on 9 Zulhijah 1444 Hijri to coincide with Tuesday, June 27, 2023. Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will gradually depart from their respective hotels to Arafah on June 26, 2023.

"The peak of the hajj is getting closer. We urge Indonesian pilgrims to maintain their stamina and health conditions in preparation for wukuf in Arafah and mabit in Muzdalifah and Mina," Subhan ordered.
