MATARAM - President Joko Widodo donated one sacrificial cow weighing more than one ton for residents of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province ahead of Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri.
Head of the NTB Provincial Animal Husbandry and Health Service Muhammad Riadi said the sacrificial cattle donated from the President were Simmental crossLimousin.
According to him, the cow weighing 1.04 tons was purchased at a price of Rp. 135 million from a farmer named Niyatip in Karang Kates Hamlet, Gondang Village, Bayan District, North Lombok Regency.
"Only one cow has the president's assistance. It has been determined by his team, the health check has been done, the inspection has been done. The price negotiations have also been done. The cow from North Lombok was chosen," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 23.
Riadi said the cows were chosen from eight cows prepared by breeders from a number of villages on the island of Lombok.
Breeders who prepare cows for the President come from Ganggelang and Gondang villages in North Lombok, Banyumulek Village in West Lombok, Teratak Village in Central Lombok, and Tirtanandi Village, South Pringgasela, and Loyok in East Lombok.
