President Jokowi Calls The 3 Day Eid Holiday To Encourage The Economy, Especially Local Tourism

BOGOR - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said the addition of holidays or collective leave on Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD was carried out to encourage the wheels of the economy in the community. "Yes, that's especially the day, it does take more time to encourage the economy, especially in the regions, to make it even better," said President Jokowi at Parungpung Market, Bogor, West Java, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, June 21. The addition of this Eid holiday can increase tourism activities in the regions. Therefore, the government finally decided to add holidays to Eid al-Adha. "Especially in the field of local tourism, so because we can see it, it will be decided," said Jokowi. The government through the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Three Ministers set June 28 and 30, 2023 as a joint leave for Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD. Meanwhile, June 29, 2023 is a national holiday to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1444 Hijri/2023 AD. The determination of the holiday was signed by the Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah, and Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas in Joint Decree Number 624 of 2023, Number 2 of 2023, and Number 2 of 2023 concerning the Second Amendment to the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Number 1066 of 2022, Number 3 of 2022, and Number 3 of 2022 concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave of 2023. "In order to increase community mobility, economic growth and tourism, as well as provide opportunities for children to be together with their parents during school holidays on Eid al-Adha in 2023, it is necessary to change the joint leave in 2023," said the contents of the SKB. Menpan RB Abdullah Azwar Anas said the three-day Eid al-Adha holiday was not solely due to differences in the determination of Eid al-Adha between the government and the Muhammadiyah religious community organizations (ormas), but also to create quality public holidays with increasing families.

"So, it's not just because there are two Eids on different days, but this is a holiday season for children, so the quality time of our ASN and also the Indonesian people is important to gather with family," he said.
