Construction Of The Ciliwung Sodetan Delayed, This Is The Progress Now

JAKARTA - East Jakarta Mayor M Anwar admitted that until now the construction of the Ciliwung drain has not yet been completed. In fact, President Joko Widodo is targeting the Ciliwung Sodetan to be completed last April.

However, Anwar claims that so far there have been no obstacles in the giant culvert project whose construction is being carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).

"(Ciliwung Sodetan) is still running, as soon as possible. Later, the plan will be inaugurated by the president. If the work can be technically asked to PUPR," said Anwar at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Monday, June 19.

Anwar admitted that the construction of outlets or outlets for the Ciliwung Sodetan water flow had been built. However, there is still another work that needs to be completed, namely the demolition of the old sheet pile in the BKT area, East Jakarta.

"Yesterday I monitored there still the road and an old sheet pile was being broken at the BKT so that the water fell heavily. This plaster was broken so that one stream entered the BKT and some entered the pipe to Bassura City Cipinang," he explained.

On Tuesday, January 24, the Ciliwung Sodetan outlet area in Kebon Nanas, Jatinegara was reviewed by President Joko Widodo.

Jokowi highlighted the condition of the Ciliwung Sodetan which had stalled during the Anies Baswedan era as Governor of DKI Jakarta.

After Heru took office, the DKI Provincial Government immediately carried out land acquisition for a number of residential areas belonging to the sodetan outlet area.

"The Ciliwung decade, which has stopped for 6 years, yesterday, a month and a half of land has been acquired here, so that the distribution can be started again and we hope that it will be completed in April, God willing," Jokowi said at the location, Tuesday, January 24.

Jokowi explained that this 1.3-kilometer giant culvert, when operating, could reduce the water discharge by 33 cubic meters per second on the Ciliwung River to be diverted to the East Flood Canal (BKT).

"Then in Alert 1 (the flow can reach) 63 cubic meters per second. Very big. That is very when it is functioning, it will greatly reduce the flooding in Jakarta," explained Jokowi.
