Naughty, Illegal Sand Mining In Klaten Is Back Ongoing Even Though It Was Closed By The Criminal Investigation Unit Of The Police

SEMARANG Although the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police had been raided, the practice of illegal sand mining in Tlogowatu Village, Kemalang District, Klaten Regency was again underway. The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Central Java Police, who knew about this, again closed and processed the law of the perpetrators.

The illegal mining raid was carried out on Thursday, June 8, 2023. The police took this step after receiving reports from the public the day before regarding illegal mining activities.

The Head of Public Relations of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol Iqbal Alqudusy, confirmed this matter.

"At that location, Bareskrim Polri in February 2023 processed illegal mining and is currently in legal proceedings, but there are those who are carrying out illegal mining again," said Iqbal, in a written statement, Wednesday, June 14.

According to the information gathered, the raid by the Central Java Police was carried out at around 08.00 WIB, Thursday, June 8, 2023. The team that took to the field was the Sub-directorate IV of Certain Crimes (Tipidter).

There, mining activities were found using 1 unit of the Cobelco brand green tosca heavy equipment. When asked by the manager for the permit document, he could not show it.

One suspected perpetrator with the initials R, a resident of Trayu, Kendalsari Village, Kemalang District, Klaten Regency.

The modus operandi is that R is asked by the owner of the land named Triyanto to reclamation the land. However, apart from reclamation, he also dredged or bulk sand mining. The sand is sold for Rp300 thousand per rupiah. The dredging work has started since Monday 5 June 2023. The evidence is 5 pieces of delivery order (DO), 1 plastic bulk sand sample, Rp300 thousand in cash from the sale and a heavy equipment.

Investigators process the law by applying Article 158 of Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining. Maximum imprisonment of 5 years and a maximum fine of IDR 100 billion.
