Garut Police revealed two places where Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) are suspected of operating illegally in Tarogong Kaler and Karangpawitan sub-districts, Garut Regency, West Java, by securing 14 people for questioning.
"Two companies that have been distributors of Indonesian migrant workers abroad, there are no permits," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Rio Wahyu Anggoro in Garut, Antara, Thursday, June 8.
The Garut Police received information that there were two places that had been the distribution company of PMI in Garut Regency, so they raided the place, last Wednesday night.
Rio explained that the results of the operations in the two places had been secured by 14 people, consisting of two people who were owners of the worker distribution company, and 12 people who wanted to be dispatched abroad to be employed as PMI.
"We have secured 14 people for further investigation," said the Police Chief.
He revealed that the two PMI distribution companies carried out illegal indicated activities or were not equipped with a permit that supported businesses in the distribution of workers abroad.
"The two places that were raided, there were many rooms used for temporary shelters for PMI before leaving for overseas," he said.
He revealed the results of the temporary information from the people who were secured, they plan to be distributed to Taiwan, Norway, and a number of other countries.
"We secure evidence in the form of cellphones, laptops, and important documents, such as passports," he said.
Rio said that his party is currently still investigating the PMI distribution company which is suspected of operating illegally by collecting evidence and other information.
Previously, the Garut Police had given an appeal through social media about the practice of TIP which had been allegedly still happening in the Garut community.
The police chief asked the public to immediately report to the nearest police station if there were people or companies suspected of carrying out TIP practices so that they could be dealt with firmly in accordance with applicable legal regulations.
