JAKARTA - Acting Minister of Communication and Information (Plt Menkominfo) Mahfud MD invited the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to assist the Ministry of Communication and Information in monitoring the budget used in its projects.
"Now I declare that in my duties and authority in the Minister of Communication and Information who just whenever BPKP wants to enter, it must be allowed and I invite him to come here to resolve the existing cases," Mahfud said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 23.
According to him, the Ministry of Communication and Information has not requested BPKP supervision for each project so that one of the consequences is a case of misappropriation of the budget, such as allegations of corruption for the procurement of 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) in 3T (Front, Outermost, Disadvantaged) areas.
This condition is certainly unfortunate considering that in other ministries, BPKP was deliberately invited to help supervise the use of the budget before starting the project so that the budget used could be right on target.
"Indeed, the rules don't have to go in, but you can ask for assistance. Some ministries are safe, because before starting a project, you ask BPKP to audit first. How much is this, how is the product. So it's safe," said Mahfud.
Apart from BPKP, Mahfud said that under his authority as Plt. The Minister of Communication and Information invited law enforcement officials to come and conduct an examination if there were reports of cases related to the Ministry of Communication and Information.
This is also in line with Mahfud's decision to support the investigation of legal cases related to the alleged corruption case in the procurement of BTS by the BAKTI Kemenkominfo.
"To law enforcement officials, it will not be hindered. The KPK, the prosecutor's office, the police, if there is a reasonable report for our investigation, please invite us, we will open the door as wide as possible," said Mahfud.
