NTB - Mataram City Environment Agency (DLH) requested assistance from coastal waste sweepers worth IDR 5 billion to the Provincial Government (Pemrov) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

Head of DLH Mataram City HM Kemal Islam said the car is expected to optimize waste management in coastal tourist attraction areas.

"There is nothing wrong with asking for help, who knows the provincial government can help us," he said in Mataram, NTB, Thursday, May 11, as reported by Antara.

Kemal said that the proposal for assistance had been submitted through the NTB Province Development Plan Deliberation (Musrenbang).

Kemal said he had seen coastal sweepers in Tangerang City, Banten and in Kuta, Bali. According to him, the car was effective in sweeping the two coastal areas.

after seeing the coastal sweeper car in Tangerang City, Banten Province and Kuta Bali, the existence of a special car to sweep the coastal area was very effective.

"It's just that, after we checked the price turned out to be quite ma'am, around Rp. 5 billion. At that price, we are still thinking because the regional budget is very limited," he said.

Related to this, his party proposed the assistance to the NTB Provincial Government, to optimize the handling of waste along 9 kilometers of beaches in Mataram City which is also a tourist area.

On the other hand, Kemal admits, as a city that has a coastal area, cleanliness and beauty must be maintained so that Mataram City should already have the beach sweeper car.

"But we also have to measure ourselves, if we can't afford it, don't make it a priority scale," he said.

Furthermore, Kemal said, for handling beach waste, it is still carried out manually by optimizing existing human resources and facilities, in collaboration with the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR).

Head of the Mataram City Tourism Office (Dispar) H Nizar Denny Cahyadi previously said that beach waste, especially those in a number of tourist attractions such as Ivory Coast, Mapak Indah, Tanjung Karang, Loang Baloq, Ampenan Beach, and Meninting Beach, were pure garbage sent.

The reason is, the garbage came from the river and then drifted into the sea and returned to the beach because it was carried away by the current of the wave.

"Meanwhile, in the area of tourist attractions such as in Loang Baloq, everything is clean because we have special officers. Garbage on the beach is currently still a problem for us so that the proposed coastal sweeper car can be a solution," he said.
