Romahurmuziy: PPP Usung Ganjar Completes Support For Nationalist And Religious Groups

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Advisory Council of the PPP DPP Romahurmuziy alias Rommy said his party had completed the spectrum of support for Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate (candidate) in the 2024 election.

"With the support of PPP, it is complete that Mas Ganjar's support spectrum from nationalist groups and religious groups is the two main pillars of our nation," said Romahurmuziy at the residence of Plt Ketum PPP Muhammad Mardiono in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Wednesday, April 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

PPP's support for Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate, he said, had been around for a long time, which was later agreed upon by all PPP Regional Leadership Councils (DPW).

"Yesterday, the entire Regional Leadership Council (PPP), 38 Regional Leadership Councils, delivered acclamation to support Mas Ganjar," he said.

According to him, since six months ago, there have even been dozens of PPP DPWs who have proposed the Central Java Governor to run as a presidential candidate.

He considered that most of the support arose because Ganjar Pranowo was considered to have a close relationship with PPP.

The reason, according to him, the late Ahmad Musandiq Supriyadi, who was none other than Ganjar Pranowo's father-in-law, had served as Chairman of the PPP DPC Purbalingga Regency.

In addition, PPP also became the party that supported Ganjar Pranowo in the 2018 Central Java Pilgub paired with PPP cadre Taj Yasin who was the son of charismatic cleric KH Maimun Zubair.

According to Romahurmuziy, PPP will immediately communicate with the Chairman of the PDI-P Megawati Soekarnoputri as the party that carries Ganjar to form a winning structure for the 2024 General Election.

"We will socialize to all of our prospective legislative candidates to at the same time get confirmation about who we are carrying so that they are also more confident when they run for PPP," he said.

The PPP structure, he said, would also instruct all components of his party from the central to the branches to support the party's decision.

"The party structure has officially carried out a constitutional process of absorption of aspirations, and today it has been decided through a constitutional forum in the party's highest decision, that the party has appointed Mas Ganjar," said Romahurmuziy.

Previously, PPP officially appointed Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

Muhamad Mardiono directly announced the name of the presidential candidate at his residence in Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), Wednesday (26/4).

Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
