Highlighting The Role Of DPRD In The Case Of The Meranti Regent's Office Being Pawned For Rp100 Billion, Menkumham: Can't Be As Good As Udelnya Aja

JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna H. Laoly highlighted the role of the Meranti Islands Regency DPRD regarding the procurement of assets of his office of the Meranti Regency Government to the bank for loan guarantees of IDR 100 billion.

The pawnshop was revealed after the inactive Regent of the Meranti Islands Muhammad Adil (MA) was just arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). "Is there any approval from the DPRD? If he has involved assets, it must be approved by the DPRD," said Yasonna at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Office, South Jakarta, Tuesday, April 18, confiscated by Antara.

The DPRD has a supervisory function for the management of local government assets. Therefore, said Yasonna, pawning the regent's office, which is a regional asset, must obtain approval from the DPRD.

"So, you can't just ignore the udel," he said.

Yasonna's statement responded to information about the alleged Meranti Islands regent's office being pledged to the bank as credit guarantee by the Regent of Meranti Islands Muhammad Adil.

Regarding the pawning carried out, Yasonna said that his party would further study whether Muhammad Adil pawned the regent's office for personal gain or for other reasons.

"We need to review it later. Pawn it for personal gain or something," said Yasonna.

Previously, the case of procuring the regent's office had also received attention from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The KPK also stated that it would study the information.

"We will not be reckless to say this is wrong or not. We will first investigate whether it is a criminal act of corruption or not," said KPK Deputy Chair Nurul Ghufron in Jakarta, Sunday, April 16.

The KPK officially named Muhammad Adil as a suspect and immediately detained him in cases of alleged corruption, budget cuts, and bribery.

In addition, the KPK also named two other suspects, namely M. Fahmi Aressa (MFA) as the Young Examiner of the Riau Representative Audit Agency (BPK) and Fitria Nengsih (FN) as the Head of the BPKAD Meranti Islands Regency Government.

KPK investigators have found evidence that Muhammad Adil received around Rp26.1 billion from various parties.
