JAKARTA - President Director of BPJS Kesehatan Ghufron Mukti said the use of ID cards as a condition for treatment at health service facilities (fasyankes) is now valid throughout Indonesia, including those who do not have Universal Health Coverage (UHC) status.

"In Indonesia, we can seek treatment using ID cards from Sabang to Merauke," said Ghufron Mukti at a press conference on JKN Services During the 2023 Eid Holiday, quoted by ANTARA, Jakarta on April 6.

He said the status of UHC in Indonesia has covered 22 provinces and 334 regencies/cities, considering that 95 percent of the population in the local area has been protected by BPJS Kesehatan social insurance.

The policy of using ID cards as an administrative requirement for accessing health services applies to all health facilities that have collaborated with BPJS Kesehatan, both government and private.

Currently, there are 3,000 health centers and 2,967 private hospital facilities that have collaborated with BPJS Kesehatan.

However, Ghufron admitted that he still received reports about health facilities in a number of areas that did not have UHC status while still requiring a number of administrative files, in addition to the participant's ID cards.

"It happened because the remnants from the BPJS Kesehatan era were in deficit, so friends at the health facility were not happy. Areas with UHC status generally used ID cards, outside of that without ID cards, there was no problem," he said.

As is known, BPJS Kesehatan's finances have experienced a surplus since 2021, based on the condition of assets containing health social security funds which were recorded at IDR 38.76 trillion, then the increase continued until 2022 to IDR 56.51 trillion.

Ghufron said that the financial indicators of BPJS Kesehatan categorized as healthy when financial transactions can be maintained optimally. In addition, BPJS Kesehatan also strives for no debt with hospital managers or health centers.

"If we have a debt, we will immediately inform you, we will immediately finish it. We also provide a down payment, we verify, we will give a down payment. That is related to compliance and service," he said.

He added that for health facilities managers who have difficulty with the requirements for participant ID cards, they can confirm this to local BPJS Health officers.

"There are one to two hospitals with information systems that are being adjusted. If there is a problem, report it, we will teach you how," said Ghufron.
