Jakpro Says Formula E Circuit Is Ready To Reuse Racing

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo Iwan Takwin said that the 2023 Formula E racing circuit at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit is ready to be reused.

The circuit track, which is located in the Ancol area, North Jakarta, has only experienced minor improvements, after being used for racing a year ago. The readiness of this circuit has also been reviewed by the Formula E Operation (FEO).

"Regarding Formula E, related to the condition of the circuit, thank God it has been visited by FEO twice, according to them, the condition of the circuit is ready, there are no obstacles," said Iwan at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building, Tuesday, April 4.

Infrastructure in the circuit area, said Iwan, is also almost finished with the dipoles again. Repairs are only on fences that have not been repainted to the heating of the plant area.

"Then, we are preparing an additional building for the booth event and it is already underway in the field," he said.

Meanwhile, Iwan admitted that he had not been able to announce sponsorships. What is clear is that there have been a number of parties who have expressed interest in participating in this year's Formula E event.

"Regarding sponsorships, some have sent and have fixed will be involved. We will announce later. On the one hand, we are also discussing but one-time sponsorship packages for market sounding to private corporations interested in Formula E," explained Iwan.

Iwan continued, there is a BUMD that is finally interested in sponsoring Formula E this year, namely PLN. However, there is no certainty about PLN's role in the electric car race.

"We are also intensely communicating with PLN because it is very directly related to this (electric car). PLN from the Jakarta area is ready to support it. We are with communication on how PLN's maximum involvement in Formula E is in Formula E," he added.

This year, the race will still be held at JIEC Ancol, North Jakarta. Unlike 2022, Formula E on June 3-4 will be held with a business to business (B2B) scheme between PT Jakarta Propertindo as the organizer of the BUMD with Formula E Operation.

In the committee structure, the position of Chairman of the Steering Committee (SC) for Formula E 2023 is still held by the Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo.

Then, there are 4 Deputy Chairmen of SC who are administrators of the Indonesian Motorcycle Association (IMI). Among them, Ahmad Sahroni is now also the Deputy Chair of the OC. In Formula E last year, this member of the Indonesian House of Representatives held the position of Chairman of the Implementing Committee.

Then, two national racer figures were also included in the ranks of SC representatives, namely Tinton Soeprapto and the owner of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Indonesia, Ricardo Gelael. Also, the owner of the Sundanese Kitchen restaurant, Andono Eko.

Then, there are two people who fill the Organizing Committee (OC) or the Implementing Committee, chaired by former racer Ananda Mikola and his deputy is Akbar Himawan Buchari who now serves as Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI).
