The Medan Prosecutor's Office Has Determined That The Former UINSU Pusbangnis Is A Corruption Suspect

The Medan Prosecutor's Office named the former Head of the Center for Business Development (Pusbangnis) of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU), SAR, as a suspect. SAR was involved in the case of alleged corruption in the 2021 ma'had program money program on campus. The Head of Special Investigation Unit of the Medan Kejari, Mochammad Ali Rizza, said that SAR had been named a suspect on Thursday. "Yes, that's right, he has been named a suspect, because he is suspected of causing state financial harm," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 31. Then, the Medan Prosecutor's Office immediately detained him for the next 20 days at the Medan Class I State Detention Center (Rutan). "After the examination, the Medan Kejari Pidsus immediately issued a detention warrant and raised the suspect's status against SAR," said Ali. He said the detention of the suspect was aimed at making the legal process run smoothly and according to the legal process. This is regulated in Article 21 of the Criminal Code for certain reasons. "For example, the suspect is worried that he will run away. In addition, it is believed that the legal process against SAR can run smoothly and is ready to be tried immediately at the Corruption Court," he added.

As a result of his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 2 paragraph (1) subsidiary Article 3 subsidiary Article 8 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Eradication of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
