Police Investigate Viral Evidence Of Imported Used Clothes Divided To Families

JAKARTA - Viral on social media allegations of abuse of authority by police officers regarding the handling of confiscated goods for the prosecution of imported clothing cases.

The alleged abuse of authority was uploaded to the Twitter account @txtdrstoryWA. In the uploaded photo, there are piles of used clothes from the prosecution.

Then, the photo was given a narrative that police officers would give the confiscated items to their families.

"I really don't have any, he said, 'You don't have to buy Eid clothes. In the office, a lot of confiscated items will be brought home later. You have a risk of having work at the Dirkrimsus, right," said the narration from the image uploaded by the Twitter account @txtfrom people in uniform, quoted on Friday, March 31, 2023.

Responding to this, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, said that his party would seek information regarding the allegation.

However, it is emphasized that the rules for confiscated evidence should not be taken for personal gain.

"Yes, you can't," said Ramadhan in response to questions about the rules of evidence, whether or not they can be given to the families of law enforcement officers.

In fact, it was conveyed that if the act was proven, it would be confirmed that it violated the rules related to abuse of authority. Therefore, his party will investigate the matter first.

"The misuse will certainly get sanctions, yes, what is clear is that if there is such a violation, the National Police ensures that it violates," said Ramadhan.
