BANYUMAS - The Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit developed an online prostitution case that was revealed in a hotel in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java.

"There is a possibility that this online prostitution case occurred in another hotel. We are still conducting investigations and developments," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) of Banyumas Police, Commissioner Agus Supriadi Siswanto in Purwokerto, Antara, Tuesday, March 14.

In disclosing a case of online prostitution at a hotel on Saturday, March 11 night, his party arrested six perpetrators who were pimps who have now been named suspects.

Meanwhile, the five women who were at the hotel with the suspects, he said, currently had the status of witness victims because they were employed by the suspects to serve guests.

"The five women are also the lovers of the five suspects we have secured, while one other suspect employed another woman who was not present at the time of the arrest," he explained.

According to him, the five women aged over 25 years came from outside Banyumas Regency, namely one person from Cilacap, two people from Bekasi, and two people from Bandung. Currently, he said, the five women have returned to their respective homes.

"So, the women were asked by their respective lovers to serve johns who had BO (booking orders) through the Michat application with rates ranging from IDR 300,000 to IDR 1,000,000," he said.

After his girlfriend served guests, he said, the perpetrator who was also a pimp and Michat operator asked for fees ranging from IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000 every time he went on a date.

Furthermore, Kasatreskrim said that based on the results of the examination, the online prostitution case had been going on for almost a year.

In fact, one of the victims with the initials A admitted that she had lived with the perpetrator at the hotel for 10 months.

"During 10 months living in the hotel, he was asked to serve a masher," she said.

In connection with this case, the suspects were charged with Article 2 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons with a penalty of 15 years in prison and/or Article 12 of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Crimes of Sexual Violence with a penalty of 15 years prison.

The online prostitution case was successfully uncovered after the Banyumas Police Criminal Investigation Unit received information from the public on Saturday (11/3), at 16.00 WIB, which was followed up by an investigation and arrest of the perpetrators by the PPA Unit at 23.00 WIB.

The six perpetrators suspected of being pimps consisted of MA (22) and RH (26), residents of West Cikarang, Bekasi Regency; FA (19), a resident of East Purwokerto, Banyumas; I (23), a resident of West Purwokerto, Banyumas; LW (23), a resident of Baturraden, Banyumas; FA (24) a resident of Sokaraja, Banyumas.
