One TNI Member Was Injured After Being Beaten By A Mob In Jatinegara Area

JAKARTA - A TNI member was the victim of a beating by a number of residents and online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers on Basuki Rahmat Street, Rawa Bunga Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta, last Saturday, March 11. The victim with the initials Prada YP suffered injuries to his upper and lower lip torn, swollen right jaw, bruised right and left cheek, bruised upper head and bruised back.

As a result of this incident, the victim Prada YP was treated at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. The victim has also made a report at the East Jakarta Metro Police with the number: LP/670/III/2023/SPKT.

Meanwhile, according to a written report, the incident occurred when the victim Prada YP and his colleague Prada I rode an automatic motorbike to go to Cakung. Once on Otista Raya Street, in front of the gas station, the victim met the perpetrator, the motorcycle taxi driver, who was riding with his wife.

Then the perpetrator's wife felt watched by the victim and the victim's colleagues. The perpetrator approached the victim and asked the victim angrily. Then the victim kicked the perpetrator and hit the perpetrator's wife in the leg.

Then the victim ran away and was chased by the perpetrator to the flyover towards the Basura tunnel. The perpetrator's wife then shouted "robber" so that the victim was caught and beaten by the mob.

The commotion was also muffled by other residents. The two victims and the perpetrator were taken into custody for questioning. For further processing, the perpetrator and his wife were handed over to the East Jakarta Metro Police.

From the results of the interim examination, the motive for the beating incident occurred due to a misunderstanding. Currently, the case is still being handled by the East Jakarta Metro Police.

Meanwhile, the East Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Budi Sartono, did not respond when VOI tried to confirm the incident via telephone and WhatsApp messages.

Separately, the head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) TNI Brigadier General Hamim Tohari said the incident was in the Kodam Jaya area.

"Try contacting the Head of Jaya Military Area Command Information Department, okay, because it's in the Jaya Military Area," he said briefly when confirmed by VOI, Monday, March 13.
