JAKARTA - The Supreme Court (MA) has approved the North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Provincial Government's proposal to establish a special judicial institution.
It is planned that the Industrial Relations Court (PHI) and the Corruption Court will attend Tanjung Selor, Bulungan, Kaltara.
"Previously we wrote to the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia so that the HI Court and the Corruption Court were immediately established in the 34th province in Indonesia. Thank God today (February 16) delegates from the Supreme Court and State Secretariat came here to follow up on the Supreme Court's directives," said the Governor of Kaltara, Zainal A Paliwang, Thursday, February 16, reported by Antara.
The governor said the submission of the two special justice institutions to the Supreme Court was in response to public complaints regarding the distance to access to special justice which is still based in Samarinda, the capital city of East Kalimantan.
“We heard input from workers that every trial must go to Samarinda at their own expense. So I took the initiative to write to the Supreme Court in the hope that industrial relations issues would not need to be resolved far away in Samarinda, just in Tanjung Selor," he said.

Regarding the immature land for the construction of the High Court and High Religious Court buildings in the Tanjung Selor Baru Mandiri (KBM) area, which was previously granted by the Provincial Government to the Supreme Court, the Governor is ready to facilitate the two appeals courts to have alternative construction locations in other areas.
"We are ready to help find the right location for PT and PTA that is easily accessible and reflects the dignity of the judiciary," said the Governor.
For information, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia will start building PTs and PTA in Tanjung Selor in 2024. Meanwhile, the PHI and the Corruption Court as special courts will have an office and hold temporary sessions at the Tanjung Selor District Court, Bulungan.
Head of the Organization and Management Section of the Supreme Court, Edi Yuniadi, said that the budget for the construction of the judiciary building had already been prepared by the Indonesian Supreme Court.
In addition to PT and PTA, Edi Yuniadi conveyed the long-term plan for the Indonesian Supreme Court to form a PHI and a Corruption Court in Tanjung Selor.
“But in the short term, the PHI and Corruption Eradication are currently being held at the Tanjung Selor District Court. The State Secretariat Team also said that this year hopefully the Presidential Decree (Presidential Decree) will come out," he said.
