"We continue to make efforts to increase the quantity and quality of public transportation," said Head of the DKI Transportation Agency Syafrin Liputo in Jakarta, Thursday, February 16 as reported by Antara.

He explained that the increase in the quantity and quality of public transport is to support the transfer of private vehicle users to public transport.

The number of passengers has also increased compared to the number of passengers in 2022, which is close to 3.5 million per day.

In terms of quantity, his party added that the number of intermodal integration points reached 26 points from the 2023 target of 22 integration points.

In terms of quality, DKI Pemprov will also add a fleet of TransJakarta electric buses this year to reach 120 additional electric buses. Last year, DKI Pemprov has targeted 100 electric buses, 30 of which have been realized.

"So that by the end of the year we hope there will be around 220 electric buses operational," he said.

In addition, his party is also carrying out a strategy of diverting private vehicle users to public transportation, including through an odd-even policy, plans to close 27 U-turn points starting June 2023 to the discourse on implementing electronic paid roads (ERP).

Meanwhile, based on data from the DKI Transportation Agency, the capacity of public transportation continues to be increased, for example, TransJakarta currently reaches around 1.2 million passengers per day with a fleet strength of 4,700 units.

Then, MRT Jakarta currently has a capacity of 173 thousand passengers per day and will be increased in 2024 to 260 thousand in 2024 which will also be supported by the completion of MRT Phase 2A.
