JAKARTA - The Melonguane area in North Sulawesi has been rocked by a series of earthquakes. Even the strongest reaches M 7,1.

The first earthquake occurred on January 18 at 13.06 WIB. The epicenter was in the sea 141 km southeast of Melonguane

Perceived Area (MMI Scale) III Minahasa, III Manado, III North Minahasa, III Bitung, III Ternate, III Sofifi, III East Halmahera, III - IV Talaud.

16 minutes later, another aftershock came. This time the magnitude is M 4.8. The difference, the depth of the epicenter of the earthquake was 19 km.

However, this premature information was then re-analyzed by the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG).

As a result, at the same time, an earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 5.3 with a center depth of 17 Km. The epicenter was 139 km southeast of Melonguane.

3 minutes later, another earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 came.
