Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Destroy 6 Kg of Crystal Methamphetamine

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Narcotics Research at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police destroyed 6,067 grams of methamphetamine or more than 6 kilograms.

Director of Narcotics Research at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Bambang Tjahjo Bawono, said the evidence destroyed was the result of drug disclosures for the period August 1 to November 30, 2022.

"The evidence that we destroyed today is 6,067.4 grams or 6 kilograms as a result of disclosures for the last four months from August 1 to November 30, 2022. We destroyed seven police reports with nine suspects", Tjahjo said as reported by Antara, Wednesday, November 30.

He said the activity of destroying evidence was the second time that his party had carried out in 2022. The destruction of illegal goods also received approval from the local court.

"We have fulfilled all administrative requirements, we have cooperated with the Attorney General's Office and the Court to determine the allowance and approval for destruction", he said.

According to him, the destruction carried out by his party could save the nation's generation, especially in the Southeast Sulawesi region of approximately 60,000 people.

He said that overall, from August 1 to November 30, 2022, the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police and all staff managed to uncover 414 cases of police reports with 500 suspects consisting of 456 men and 34 women with a weight of 6,067 grams.

Even so, he considered that the drug evidence that had been uncovered was not the real number, because talking about drugs was like an iceberg phenomenon where only a part appeared on the surface.

"We can imagine that only one-third, in a period of approximately three or four months, we can reveal so much. It has reached a very serious level for the illicit trafficking and abuse of drugs in the Southeast Sulawesi region", he said.

Under these conditions, he is committed that in the future he will further improve integrity and establish collaboration with various parties in terms of eradicating drug abuse and illicit trafficking in the Southeast Sulawesi region.

"So that we can suppress or reduce drug abuse in the Southeast Sulawesi region. We are determined in the future that what we will eradicate are patch workers, dealers, and so on", he said firmly.

Meanwhile for users, in this case as victims of abuse, his party is working with the local National Narcotics Agency to carry out an assessment or rehabilitation so that they can be released from dependence on these illegal drugs.

"Hopefully we can save generations that are polluted by drug problems so that they can become good generations in the future", he said.

The destruction of these illicit goods used an incinerator machine belonging to the Kendari POM Center in the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police yard was witnessed by the Southeast Sulawesi BNN, the Southeast Sulawesi High Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Southeast Sulawesi and other guests.
