JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo mobilized a thousand members to evacuate earthquake victims in Cianjur, West Java. It is hoped that all affected victims can be rescued and assisted.

"We are currently asking about 1,000 members to come down to help with the evacuation", General Sigit told reporters, Tuesday, November 22.

In addition, the Police also provided several refugee camps. The tents have been firmly established as a temporary resting places.

The team of doctors who were also deployed will provide the maximum possible care for the injured victims.

"We are currently focusing on evacuation activities and then evacuation by setting up several tent posts as well as maintenance and search", he said.

The National Police Chief said that he had ordered the West Java Police Chief, Inspector General Suntana, to mobilize his members to guard the houses of the refugees. The goal is to prevent the crime of theft from occurring.

"Of course, after this, I ask the Kapolda to participate in carrying out patrols, especially in houses that are currently abandoned so that we can reduce the potential for crime to occur", said Sigit.

For information, an earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitudes rocked the Cianjur area, West Java on Monday, November 21.

Based on BNPB data, as many as 103 people died, 31 people were missing, 377 people were injured, 1 person was seriously injured, 1 person was moderately injured, and 11 people were slightly injured.
