JAKARTA - The number of deaths due to the United States (US) attack on Iran during the latest escalation has increased to 38 people. It is also reported that more than 400 people were injured.
"As of 06.30 local time (10.00 WIB), the number of people injured in the US attack has exceeded 400 people, while 38 of our citizens were killed," said spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Health, Hossein Kermanpour, as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Friday, July 17.
The minister said three women were killed and 22 others were injured. Kermanpour also added that among the victims under the age of 18, there was one dead and nine injured.
Previously on Wednesday (15/7), Iranian authorities stated that the number of fatalities had reached 35 people with at least 300 people injured. As reported, the US has launched several waves of attacks against Iran since July 8.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the attacks were a response to Iranian interference with commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
